We were seated promptly and our food was brought out timely. We tried the shrimp chicken and sausage gumbo that was very hearty and flavorful, not too spicy at all. I had the oxtail with collard greens and gravy rice. I don't eat oxtail very much but the meat was so moist and tender it fell right off the bone. I've been here numerous times and this place never fails to satisfy my cravings!

Supposedly a Southern restaurant run by Koreans. I like that. How was the food? It was average. They start everyone w. corn muffins, pretty good but def no corn bread good. I ordered the chicken pot pie and my bro ordered the corn beef hash. The crust on the chicken pot pie was the best part. The chicken and gravied veggies were good but needed herbs to liven it up. As for the hash, who cuts them in chunks. Weird. Besides that, the flavor was not their either. Maybe we ordered the wrong stuff but willing to try something more southern there next time.

I got the catfish... I wish I got the chicken. The catfish was bland. Even with some cholula. My bf for the spicy fried chicken and it was great. The Louisiana hot links were tasty. The atmosphere is fun and the service is great. Very down to earth place. And, they played a few Whitney Houston songs so I was in heaven. Go there if you LOVE cornbread cause the muffins are awesome.

The Fried Chicken dinner was amazing! It was really juicy and piping hot. Can't miss if you get it. The waiter also brought out fresh hot corn muffins that came with my meal. The muffins are so crumbly and good, yum. I ordered macaroni and cheese and collard greens as my two sides. Again they were delicious too, the mac n cheese was made with butter or something, so freaking tasty and the greens were cooked in chicken stock. All around great stuff! My friend and I came on a Wednesday during lunchtime and the place wasn't packed and we were seated immediately.

Now, I ate here almost a year ago, so I shouldn't speak to much other than three things: On a rainy night, I ate here alone and I ate fried chicken. I didn't feel bad about it. The staff made me good about it. And it made me realize that if I did this every night since that night, I might not be standing and I'd feel awful about myself, but I'm due for my annual... fried chicken alone on a cold night. For sides I've tried the following: Bacon fat cabbage: Bacon fat anything is amazing Mac n Cheese: So delicious and creamy that I have to try and stop myself from doubling up on this side. Red Beans and Rice: Rice is okay, not cajun style or anything and the red beans have some spice to them, not my favorite. Food is great! and Service is pretty on point. An easy go to for southern food.

Went back and decided to try something other than the fried chicken, so I got the fried snapper. I know better than to get fried fish at a restaurant, unless it's the whole fish then it's usually pretty safe. It was good, but the edges were a little over done, which is expected since it was fillets. I also got their sweet potato fries, talk about legal forms of crack! I offered my mom one and she ended up eating a quarter of the bowl

My friend helped launch this little place. Seriously the widest range of patrons! Such a good vibe and definitely all about the food:). My kind of place. The server was busy and it made her hard to read and get her attention. She did say all the right things as far as steps of service though. So I'll chalk it up to being bait, which I understand. Chicken and waffles was recommended. Get it spicy! The Mac and cheese has a great garlic flavor to it. Creamy in flavor but soupy in texture. I like my Mac cheesy! But all in all, good shit. You will leave satisfied;)

Alot if people take there food to go and it'll be much fresher that way, they probably live around the corner and know this place is to busy to serve fresh food. Let's just set aside the fact that this food is not healthy. It's fried, it's greasy, and it's delicious. Just don't devour too much in a small amount of time. It starts with hot soft cornbread that melts in your mouth. Then it goes to some of the best chicken and waffles ever. Then include some mac n cheese, sweet potato fries, and coleslaw and you have yourself a meal that should keep you satisfied for a week (I usually eat fruit, veggies, and water for a week while I detox from what I just ate). Amazing soul food, you wouldn't have expected an Asian person to open such a restaurant huh?

This is actually my first time trying this Hard Knox. I've been to the one on 3rd street and had a really good experience. I ordered their 3 piece fried chicken here and it was really super dry. It was way over cooked! I couldn't even finish it cause it was so dry... My friend order the smoother pork chop which was really tender. Though it was still a bit bland, it wasn't bad. I won't come to this location again, sticking to the good old 3rd street location!

This place is always packed and it's for good reason. I've been here 4 or 5 times and the food has always been amazing. My favorite is the spicy fried chicken, with mash potatoes and candied Yams. The service is always pretty good, The restaurant is not nice, but its part of the charm.
